olympics taking over my life!

So who else is caught up in the olympic hype???
It is on all day everyday in our house....Im not usually one for sport, but Im right into it at the moment, shouting at the tv and all sorts!!!
So as you can imagine scrapping has taken a backseat again, but today I found some time and did some catching up on my sketch layouts.
As i started writing this I also realised I haven't posted since day 8 and today was day 13 so you have a lot of boring stuff to read :)

lets go:

Day 9 - Prima Diva

So you've seen pics of Lola doing ballet, well these were taken on the same day but are of Elsie during the same lesson. She didn't actuality take part properly but she did wear her tut and copy them raising their arms etc etc. she even tottered around the studio for a little while which was when i got these!
She was giving me diva looks as if to say "ha ha, I'm doing this if you let me or not!"
as it was the teacher remembered us from last year, not sure if thats a good or bad thing, but hey ho... she allowed her to wander around as she wanted which was quite a lot :)
You may recognise the papers from the page i did of Lola, as they all came out of my scrap bag, its great how little snippets can be turned into pieces that cover up the whole page.

Day 10 - Kayak games

These are some pictures of Dan whilst he was away at camp. luckily the school took photos of them doing all the activities and allowed us to buy them all on a disc. I was a very happy bunny :)
These show Dan and how 'team' doing games on the kayaks. they didn't learn how to row them as such but just seemed to play team building games on the,. it still looked like fun!!!
I was very pleased with myself and this page as its a double and it didn't take me very long to do, which is unusual as doubles usually throw me right off.

Day 11 - Basket cases

Now I'm not to keen on this one.... the blue floral paper is not my usual style and the lettering cut from a paper sheet isn't usually my thing either, so this is very outside the box and one I'm not very sure I will try again in a hurry lol.
The pics are of the girls playing with my wet washing basket in the garden, as if they haven't got enough toys in and outside the house!

Day 12 - Aslan's Army

More pics from Dans week away. in these they were pretending to be in Narnia, he was in Aslan's army, hence the 'lion' in the photos! and they had to try and regain the castle from the white witch. he looks miserable in the photos but only because he was told to look in a bad mood apparently lol.
I again am not sure about this page, i like the map paper and if i hadn't used it now i don't know when I will have. just not sure I like how it all goes together. never mind :)

Day 13 - Window wildlife

Now this is very much NOT like the sketch we received this morning. It was supposed to be inch squares of patterned papers and photo mixed, but I knew I didn't have enough photos that I wanted to crop down to an inch big so had to look into other options.
I went for the easy way out and made random mosaics out of photos that i cropped to 4x5 inches. After mounting them piece by piece onto a green mat it didn't take long to add the other pieces to it.
It looks pretty boring but all the journalling tells the stories I had to write down :)

Ok so its now 8:48pm..... and I haven't watched any sport in over an hour :)
Time to go and catch up on the swimming, lets see whose got the gold!

catch you later xxxx

Day 8

Good Morning!

Im in such a good mood this morning, its sunny sunny sunny, the girls are out for the day so today is MY day..... and Kisstory tunes are playing on the radio, it doesn't get much better!

Its only 11am and I have already done a load of washing, washed up, put out the recycling, delivered the girls to the childminders and completed 2 scrapbook pages..... i am on a roll!

here are todays offerings:

Day 8 - Give us a wink

This is todays page that is based almost exactly on the sketch. I loved the ribbon accent on Ryas page earlier this week, she is another lady who is doing the sketch class... I thought it looked amazing on hers so decided to use the same technique here, im quite pleased with how it turned out too :)
The page is about how Elsie loves to wink, at anyone and everything. its hilarious to watch a baby winking, she even doe sit at the men!!! such a floozy lol

Day 8 - Elsie in a box

A second offering for today, altho not very much to do with the sketch.
I absolutely loved this die cut paper by Websters pages, and I love the photos of elsie being a jack in the box, so it was natural for me to want to show both of these off without much embellishment.
I wonder what Carole will have to say about this????

Right I'm off to find something else to do with the rest of my day off..... see you soon

stay safe xxxxx

keeping up :)

Hey!

Its still pretty hot here in Bristol, we've been out food shopping this morning but its far too hot and sunny for the girls to play outside so we've been in attempting to keep cool. Don't get me wrong I'm not complaining about he weather, summer is mty favourite time of year, but when you have young ones there isn't too much you can do in it when its so hot.

So whilst elsie slept and Lola played schools, i got to scrap. page number 7 from sketch number 7 :)
I really liked doing this one, I knew i wanted to do pictures of Daniel as I don't usually have many, he's a boy and at 11 isn't keen on me taking his pic, plus all he usually does is play computers!! So when I got his camp photos and his leavers assembly pics, they just had to jump straight to the top of my pile.

Day 7 - Leaving Blaise

Blaise is the name of his primary school, and this pic shows Dan (in the middle) with his friends Oscar and Nathan, posing for pics after their leavers performance.
The only bit of the sketch i changed was replacing the circles that were originally there with stars, I moved the title up a bit as it was too lost on the red patterns and I added in an extra layer of red pp... I am currently trying to use as much as I can from my scrap bags, I have a tonne of paper that isn't 12x12 size and these live in my scrap bags, so for now I'm only allowing myself 1 full sheet of 12x12 and the rest is coming out of my scraps, its gotta be used sometime else it will grow and grow.

thanks for popping over to look today, I will definitely be back tomorrow as its Thursday and both of my girls, at the moment, will be at the childminder on a Thursday, giving me a few hours to be me, instead of full time mum.
I love ti and look forward to my break every week, its so nice to know that they are safe and having fun at the same time as I can chill out and do me things!
Anyways tata for now xxxxxx

playing catch up......again!

a long one but hopefully  quick one!....I shall at least try :)

since coming back from holidays I'd not really gotten my head back into scrapping mode, I was tired and just not in the mood to tell the stories, even tho I have tonnes of photos that are in need of it!
I spent my usual Wednesday with Carole via Skype, and we did some crafting, Carole made 8 6x6 pages and I didn't even manage to finish one 12x12. I was deflated to say the least.
I mentioned to Carole that day that I needed a class to kickstart me back into it again and that I was going to look on the net for something that evening, you all know howI love a challenge :)
HOWEVER.... I was hanging (means tired in good ole Bristol, not hungover as it means in Dorset!)
so I didn't get around to looking, instead I fell asleep on the sofa and that was that.

To my surprise and delight, Thursday morning brought with it an email from big picture classes, telling me to check out the first sketch in the new class!
See how easily I forget things.... I'm terribly useless when it comes to remembering anything but this time what a nice surprise it was to have this turn up just when I needed it.

As you can imagine I got to work right away and  have been making pages (happily) ever since.
Today is day 6 and I must admit to playing catch up today. Its been amazing hot weather here since the weekend, so when we don't get to see the sun very often, it has to be made the most of. so today I found myself completing 3 layouts that I hadn't got around to doing before.

I will start at the beginning:

Day 1 - Tu tu-tastic

pics of Lola doing her ballet classes on holiday. I would never have thought of cutting some of the photos down in size, its something that seems to be happening a lot in these sketches so maybe it will stay with me once the class is over?
I kept to the sketch pretty much, only adding in some butterflies and extra journalling spots.

Day 2 - Aim

Pics of Paul, the boys and I at our archery class that we took whilst away.
Again trimmed down to only see the essentials.
the original sketch was pretty straight and didn't really connect for me, in the way that I scrap so I changed it a tad to suit my style better.
I added large torn papers top and bottom and added wash tape to link it together, the arrows finished it off for me keeping your eye focused on the photographs and tying into the archery theme.

Day 3 - bunches of bunches

A few pics NOT from holiday :)
taken of the girls when they both wore bunches in their hair, if only for half an hour!
Elsie left her own alone but loved poking at Lola's with her little arm.
Im biased but think they both look super cute with their hair like this, and every other time lol
I mainly stuck to the sketch here, adding in the butterflies and the hidden journalling which should have been journal strips down the side. I love the tutu trim making the BLUE page a lot more feminine. its not often I use blue for my girls

Day 4 - THE hair braid

I stuck mainly to the sketch, I may have twisted it a little to make the photos on an angle but the majority is the same. I used wash tape to make a frame for the photos and to also hold the journalling block, to which i added the clear (smashing) bag. this one sat on my desk for 2 days so its not great, i kept looking and looking and wondering how to finish it so in order to move on to the next I just stuck bits on and moved on. sometimes it has to be done!

Day 5 - shop till you drop

Im not so sure on this one either, but thought you might think I was not doing my challenge if I didn't post it.
I completely changed this sketch, twisting it on its head to put the photos along the top, there was only supped to be 1 photo on here, and 2 journalling spaces so I changed those to accommodate more pics.
I added in an extra embellishment area and my 'shopping list' journalling instead of journalling strips which were meant to go sideways on here.
Im not sure the stark whiteness of the journalling block works with the rest of the page but I'm happy that it follows along the shopping theme.

Day 6 - Water baby

Probably my favourite of the 3 i've done today. using pics of Elsie in the baby pool. Whenever we tell her to smile for photos she winks! its hilarious so there are quite a few photos from hold with her winking , this is the first lol. I pretty much followed the sketch directly, adding in only a few extra tiny bits as embellishment.

My personal fave of these is the first one, perhaps as I was excited to be scrapping again? or maybe I love those pics the best?!?!?! who knows...looking forward to seeing what on the menu for tomorrow, and will try to keep this up to date more often xxxx

If you have come via BPC please say hi, I would love to visit your blogs to compare layouts, i love how different they can look!

bye for now xxxxxx
